The fare collection system (AFC) is one of the most important links between a passenger and transport company.
For this reason we wanted our solution to encompass a wide variety of options for fare collection in connection with advanced technologies of smart cards.

EMLINES system is designed as an open solution for all sorts of public transport with various flows of passengers. It can be employed in regional, municipal, as well as train transport. The properties of our solution are based on the needs for fast and flexible check-in with different flows of passengers. Modern technologies have enabled us to build a modular system that can be deployed and extended gradually. We put a lot of emphasis on high security, which is based on reliable security technologies in combination with the use of many security mechanisms on all levels of the system. Modern solutions based on smart cards are today on a very high level and they are gradually replacing the typical paper ticket. The advantages of smart cards are not only on the side of passenger, but also on the side of transport provider, who gets exact data from operation, which in turn enable him to better plan the operation of the vehicle fleet. From this point of view they bring a significant effect as well as new possibilities for further development of card system for other subjects. The EMLINES solution is developed for the use of smart cards which can carry products such as time ticket and electronic wallet, which extend the range of options for check-in methods. It is the electronic wallet that enables operation in the Check-in/Check-out mode, which enables fair fares in accordance with distances traveled. This method, with a suitable fare setting, is a very strong tool for attracting more passengers into public transport vehicles. The fare collection system is a part of the overall system solution of transport company. It needs to communicate with other systems in vehicle as well as in depot. Connectibility to other peripheries enables automatic operation without driver’s interference. The position of the vehicle is monitored via GPS and broadcasted to the check-in system in real time. The check-in system evaluates coordinates and automatically switches stations along with setting the correct fare. All data necessary for check-in system are prepared in a software application which generates the necessary data for check-in system and ensures their automatic distribution into vehicles. Data transmission can be operated using all available technologies with sufficient transmission capacity. It is very important to consider all possibilities and limitations and choose a suitable technology for transmission, alternatively a suitable combination of transmission technologies (Radio, GSM/GPRS, Wi-Fi, etc.). |
